Cambridge City which is nestled along the National Road was established in 1836. This road was the main route followed by those who were hoping for a new start in the west, a section of the country which was just beginning to be settled. Travelers could find lodging and all the things they needed as they headed west. Some who had intended to go west, chose to settle here and many started a business. Our history is still evident and is proudly preserved by today’s residents.

We are closely entwined with other area communities located within a few miles of here - Pershing to the east, Milton to the south, Mt. Auburn and Dublin to our west. The Western Wayne Schools located in Cambridge city are consolidated with these communities.

We are fortunate to have an industrial park and to be located just a few miles south of I-70 which offers easy access to Dayton, Ohio and Indianapolis which are about one hour away. On U.S. 40, the east side of town houses the Golay Community Center, an outstanding facility with an Olympic size swimming pool, and on the west side a beautiful new library graces the landscape. In between you will find antique stores, restaurants, and many businesses which are listed in our business directory by category.

We welcome you to visit us and enjoy our great community.

The Town of Cambridge City is building a gazebo in the downtown mini park. The trees have been damaged by weather, and some have been taken down. We are asking for donations for this project from any interested parties. Any large or small donation will be greatly appreciated and names of all who donate will go on a plaque which will be placed inside the gazebo.  Brick paver donation form.
